Reference copy · verify against the official sourceRMC No. 42-2022 (April 12, 2022) clarifies that the deadline for filing the Calendar Year 2021 Annual Income Tax Return (AITR) and paying the corresponding tax is April 18, 2022, since April 15, 2022 is a non-working holiday. A tentative AITR filed by April 18, 2022 may be amended by May 16, 2022 without interest, surcharge, or penalties, and any resulting overpayment may be carried over as a credit or claimed as refund. The circular prescribes filing through eBIRForms or eFPS, lists manual (AABs/RCOs) and electronic payment options (LBP Link.Biz, DBP Pay Tax Online, UBP Online/The Portal, GCash, PayMaya, MyEG), allows certain taxpayers (e.g., senior citizens/PWDs and employees outside substituted filing) to manually file no-payment returns, recognizes electronic signatures as equivalent to wet signatures, and requires submission of attachments (e.g., BIR Form No. 1709, Audited Financial Statements) on or before May 31, 2022 to the RDO/LTS/LTDO or through the eAFS System.
